Six Flags Great Adventure: Visit #62
By: Kevin Michaels
October 4, 2015

We woke up in Virginia this morning near Kings Dominion. Yesterday, we spent a portion of the day at Kings Dominion in the rain, getting a lot of good rides in. We had no intention to visit the park today because the last time we did that on a Sunday, the drive home turned into a nightmare. After leaving early enough to get home at 12:30pm, we quickly unloaded the car and hopped right back in the car to head out to Jackson.

Main goal? Free food!

After the 4 and a half hour drive home from Virginia, you build up an appetite so our main goal is to eat, maybe get a ride or two in, grab dinner and head home to rest up for work tomorrow morning!

Kings Dominion: Visit #7

October 3, 2015

It's a chilly and rainy day and there has been a threat of a Hurricane all week but as of right now it is just a drizzle. This is our 7th visit to Kings Dominion of the season and it is an ACE event called Fall Thrillfest!

Our Yorkie is along for the trip!

We brought our Yorkie Darla along for this trip as Kings Dominion has a Kennel to leave her in for 5 dollars for the entire day! Good deal.

Volcano, morning ERT

Intimidator 305 was to be the morning ERT but we were rerouted to Volcano, most likely because of the rain. By the time we got to Volcano, we were told it was closed but were told Intimidator 305 is open!

Six Flags Great Adventure: Visit #61

Happy Sunday, everyone! We are back at Six Flags Great Adventure for a few hours. It is chilly, cloudy and windy out this morning. Hopefully the sun peeks out for a little while to bring some warmth to this place today.

Batman Backwards first

We met up with C.J. and went to Batman Backwards first. Good ride, but much better at night.

The Dark Knight Coaster

After Batman, we grabbed a ride on the Dark Knight and they were nice enough to let us skip the pre-show.

Nitro, walk on

As we approached Nitro, we noticed the ride was stopped on the lift and they had sent a worker up because someone had their phone out. We got two rides on Nitro without having to get off.

September 26, 2015

Today is our 60th visit to Six Flags Great Adventure! It seems like a perfect day to be here, however I fully expect this place to be a zoo today.

Safari Off Road Adventure

Our first ride of the day is the Safari Off Road Adventure. We met up with Sheri, Mike and their friend and ours now, Jill. It has been a while since we have done the Safari, we will be missing some of the Safari due to a marathon going on in the Safari.

Kickin' Chicken for Lunch

We headed to Kickin' Chicken for lunch and we were told that we get two lunches each, one on the 2015 dining and the other on 2016 dining. Awesome. #TeamFatAss for the win. We got a snack right after lunch.

Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom: Visit #6
By: Kevin Michaels
September 25, 2015

It's Friday and Six Flags Great Adventure isn't open so we decided to venture out to Dorney Park for our 6th visit of the season.

Meeting with Friends?

Sheri, her husband, Danny, Vincent and his son are all expected to be here tonight for Halloween Haunt at Dorney Park.

Metal detectors at entrance

As we walked into the park tonight, they were scanning all guests entering the park with the metal detector wands.

It's Sunday morning and we headed out to Six Flags Great Adventure for a few hours! Yesterday was an extremely long day at Dorney Park but it was fun and well worth it!

Park opens at 11am

Now that we are in Fright Fest hours, the park doesn't open until 11am. Saturday nights, Great Adventure stays open until almost midnight and closes at 10pm on Sundays. The park will not be open on Friday nights until October 2nd. Check the website or the Six Flags App for all of the updated park hours.

Are you ready for Halloween Haunt at Dorney Park?? The Haunts here at the park began last night for the season, but we are here all day today for the rides and the Haunt, it should be a blast. While we are approaching fall, summer weather is still here as it is set to be 85 degrees and sunny today. That is a perfect day for a theme park, but not a perfect day for me. Bring on the brisk fall mornings, I cannot wait!

Park opens at 11am

We arrived to the park around 10:30am and got a good spot in the parking lot and then got in the line of people waiting to get into the park. For Halloween Haunt, the park opens at 11am but will remain open until midnight! I don't know if I will make it all the way until midnight as I have a 2 hour drive home, but I will try my hardest. It actually depends on how long the lines get for the Haunts. If they become unbearable, then I'll call it a night otherwise I will stick it out. Either way, my goal is to peel myself out of bed tomorrow to head to Six Flags Great Adventure!

Waldameer Park: Steel Dragon
Manufactured by: Maurer Sohne

Steel Dragon is a steel roller coaster located at Waldameer Park in Erie, Pennsylvania manufactured by Maurer Sohne. This coaster opened up in 2004 and it will bring you up a chain lift hill to a height of 51 feet at top speeds of 37.3 MPH. As the ride is in motion, the car will spin around! Can you handle the motion of this steel coaster?

The ride review...

I have always been a fan of spinning roller coasters and this one is no different as it is a very fun experience. The only downside to this ride is that it is situated in a bad area and smelled of manure during the ride. The combination of the spinning and the smell is not for those with a weak stomach!

Waldameer Park: Ravine Flyer III
Manufactured by: E&F Miler Industries

Ravine Flyer III is a kiddie coaster at Waldameer Park, manufactured by E&F Miler Industries! This is a steel roller coaster at the park that is uniquely situated over a small body of water.

Ravine Flyer III was installed at the park 8 years before Ravine Flyer II as the 2nd Ravine Flyer had been in the works for quite some time. While this is a kiddie coaster at the park, adults are allowed to ride the roller coaster.

Waldameer Park: Ravine Flyer II
Manufactured by: The Gravity Group

Ravine Flyer II is a hybrid wooden roller coaster located at Waldameer Park in Erie, Pennsylvania, manufactured by the Gravity Group. Ravine Flyer II is a favorite among coaster enthusiasts here at Waldameer Park!

This wooden roller coaster took the place of the park's old Ravine Flyer that was removed in 1938 after a tragedy resulting in a man's death. Ravine Flyer II emulates the course of the original Ravine Flyer.

Waldameer Park: Comet
Manufactured by: Philadelphia Toboggan Company

Comet is a wooden roller coaster located at Waldameer Park in Erie, Pennsylvania, manufactured by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. This wooden coaster opened up at the park in 1951 and has been in operation ever since!

Comet will bring you up a chain lift hill to a height of 37 feet with a 25 foot drop at a top speed of 25 MPH! This coaster is an ACE Classic at Waldameer and is obviously geared towards children as it isn't very high or fast.

Halloween Haunt & Fright Fest BEGIN...

By: Kevin Michaels

This coming weekend, both Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park will begin their annual Halloween Events; Fright Fest & Halloween Haunt! Dorney Park will begin with their event on Friday night as they will be open beginning at 5:30pm and Six Flags Great Adventure will officially launch Fright Fest on Saturday night!

Theme Park Maniacs will be visiting both Dorney Park & Six Flags Great Adventure this weekend, look for our Trip Reports and Photos from both parks this coming weekend. We will be attending Dorney Park's Halloween Haunt on Saturday, but will not be at Great Adventure long enough on Sunday to attend Fright Fest. We will be attending Fright Fest on Saturday, September 26th at Six Flags Great Adventure.

Check out our Calendar for the rest of September to see just what we will be up to for the rest of the month! Plus, we have filled in some dates for October to give everyone a heads up what parks we will be at! While the summer has wound down and the parks are on a limited schedule, we hope everyone enjoys the rest of the season and we look forward to Holiday in the Park at Six Flags Great Adventure from November 21st through January 3rd!

Casino Pier: Visit #1
By: Kevin Michaels
September 13, 2015

It has been years since I have been to Seaside Boardwalk, I've maybe made one trip after Hurricane Sandy and after the fire to see what was left of the place, but that's about it. There is only one pier here left with rides on it and I have to say, while there doesn't look like there is much left to do here in terms of rides, the place is really cleaned up.

Seaside Hangover IV

We are here for an ACE Event called Seaside Hangover IV, and this is the aftermath of Riding of the Bull at Six Flags Great Adventure yesterday. It is only 20 dollars a person, which gives us all day rides, one ride on the Go Karts, a ride on the Sky Ride and I believe access to the water park, which we don't do anyway.

Total Mayhem Will Ensue in 2016
Six Flags Great Adventure to Debut the
Most Insane Coaster in Its History

JACKSON, N.J. -- September 3, 2015 -- Six Flags Great Adventure will dominate as the king of chaos in 2016 when the world's largest theme park debuts the 14th and most unique scream machine in its history, Total Mayhem.

After being lifted straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill, this 4-D, free-fly coaster will wreak havoc as riders flip head-over-heels at least six times along the weightless journey. Thrill seekers will experience exhilarating leaps and dives along a horizontal plane, along with unexpected drops as they tumble from one level to the next. The wing seats amp up the pandemonium since riders will experience all of this chaos with no track above or below - just the sky, ground and adjacent Great Lake churning around them.
